West at home

Well I start working today with a company called west at home.
I've done their training and I've scheduled my first shift for this afternoon.
I had to call Verizon fist today to have them remove the voicemail, call waiting and call forwarding service.
I'll be telemarketing various products on the phone using my computer to enter the order in their system. They use a script I'll be reading to the callers. The customers see ads on television and call for information or to order the product.
I get to work at home to save commute time and gas.
I set up my home office space in the corner of my game room. I bought a new phone and a headset to use for my new job. I've only tested the headset a few times but it seems ok.

Trial results

Oh the trial was a breeze, verdict was NOT GUILTY! The state didn't make their case at all.
Let me setup the crime scene for you. This couple was sitting in their pickup in front of this guys aunts duplex arguing while the other tenant couple was outside their apartment arguing at 10:30 at night.
The lady outside arguing was the first witness. She said she heard the lady in the pick up shout stop your hurting me. When the lady in the truck got out she said she saw she had a black eye. She claimed the victim asked her to call police. The defence attorney asked her if she wasn't convicted for giving police misinformation and she denied it but then the defence attorney said she was in fact convicted twice for giving police misinformation. Once the defence attorney produced the documentation the lady admitted she had once lied to police but the second time she just plead guilty for a lesser sentence.
The second witness a police officer talked about the night of the crime. He said her took a statement from the neighbor lady and the defendant admitted to hitting the fiancee. He didn't bring his note from that night but went on recollection.
The prosecution rested the defence called the victim. She said while arguing she slapped the defendant three to four times but he didn't hit her. He simply raise his arms in self defence. She was drunk at the time and was arrested as well for drunk and disorderly. She says she did not tell the neighbor to call the police.
The next witness was the defendant. He said the same as his fiancee that she had slapped him. He said he told the police he may have hit her when he raised his arms to defend himself. He said the police told him he should have just sat there and taken it and they arrested him.
This was such a sloppy case I can't believe it went to trial. The one woman on the jury was selected as the foreman. It was over by noon. We all right away said the state had no case. We mostly agreed it could have been as accused but the evidence wasn't there to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

Jury Duty

Well I'm scheduled to serve jury duty Thursday . I spent the morning Monday in the Sarasota Judical Building and was selected for a trial. So Thursday I'll go do my civic duty and serve as a juror.
I'm not allowed to talk about the case but it isn't a high profile case even by local standards. I am determined to keep in mind the defendant is innocent until proven guilty.

The Incredible Edible Egg

Today I had eggs and bacon for dinner. I love eggs and eat them for breakfast, lunch or dinner. These are store bought not as good as farm fresh. My friend Judy has chickens and some awesome eggs.
I think I've cooked thousands of eggs maybe hundreds of thousands. My first career was in food service. I first worked in Charlotte Harbor right on Peace River at the Fish n Steer. Later Martin's Restaurant in Port Charlotte. When I went into the Navy I chose food service again. I continued that career until I went to school for my present career in IT.

While in the Navy after we returned from overseas our ship went into dry dock in Long Beach Ca. while there I was assigned to work at the base mess hall. There we served thousands of servicemen both Navy and Marines. My first duty there was as a grill cook and in the mornings I noticed of the two lines mine always stretched all the way to the door where the other line was half as long. I looked back at the line Chief Petty Officer once and asked if I was going too slow, he smiled and said no my eggs were better.

Mike's life on Jeffery Waterway

To begin: This pictue is of my grandson Dennis (DJ) from when he came on vacation with my daughter Theresa and his sister Emily. DJ caught his first fish in Jeffery Waterway. I've never caught a fish in there! I moved here in 1999 from Rye Colorado. I've met lots of great people down here.
